Sporting Club Grants Program

The Sporting Club Grants Program provides funding for community sport and active recreation organisations across Victoria. Access to this funding helps grassroots clubs and organisations address barriers in participation, develop safe and sustainable practices and build social and active local communities.

Funding Categories:

 

  • Category 1: On-field Uniforms or Equipment – Up to $1,000 to purchase on-field playing uniforms, participation equipment for competitors and active participants, safety, injury prevention and first-aid equipment.
  • Category 2: Volunteers and Officials – Up to $5,000 for projects that improve the skills and knowledge of volunteers, coaches and/or officials and projects that improve volunteer-retention.
  • Category 3: Access and Engagement – Up to $1,000 for tools and resources that improve accessibility, governance and strengthen engagement with members and participants OR Up to $4,000 to plan and deliver a new or modified sport or active recreation program.
  • Category 4: Competitors – Up to $750 towards the costs of travel, accommodation and event registration fees for individual athletes selected to attend representative competition, selection trials or training camps.

Program dates:

Round 1

Funding is available for projects commencing or items purchased from 12 October 2024.

  • Applications open: Friday, 6th September 2024
  • Applications close: 4pm Friday, 11th October 2024
  • Notification of outcomes: late December 2024.

Applications must be submitted by eligible organisations on behalf of athletes – SRV will not accept applications directly from individuals.

Grassroots Cricket Fund

The Grassroots Cricket Fund (GCF) is a partnership of the Australian Cricketers’ Association and Cricket Australia, working to together to help drive this vital program and grow grassroots cricket.

The GCF ensures cricket clubs and indoor cricket centres throughout Australia get the investment to support those who help drive grassroots cricket and bring communities together.

Eligible activities/initiatives that will be funded fall under two broad categories:

  • Initiatives that create more opportunities to play
  • Initiatives that encourage exceptional experiences for members, club and community including building operational capacity & capability, volunteer development, improving inclusion & diversity, and creating safe, inclusive & quality experiences at clubs

Grant Amount:

Up to $3,500 for cricket clubs and centres to facilitate sustainable impact and foster participation growth in the junior space.

Emergency Sporting Equipment Grant Program

The Emergency Sporting Equipment Grant program provides funding for community sport and active recreation organisations across Victoria. Access to this funding helps grassroots organisations replace or repair essential sport or first aid equipment that has been lost or destroyed because of unpreventable incidents, including bushfire, flood, significant storm, earthquake, theft, arson, or criminal damage. Funding will be available to 31 May 2025 or until funding is exhausted.

Significant Sporting Events Program

The Significant Sporting Events Program helps sporting, community and event organisations to deliver significant sporting events in Victoria.

Grant type Grant description Maximum grant value
Event assistance grants Available to event organisers seeking funding support to assist with general operational costs associated with hosting events. $20,000
Event development grants Available to develop or expand events, or for events with high operational costs (typically more than $200,000). $150,000*
Strategic event planning grants Available to State and National Sporting bodies to assist with the development of sport strategic event plans that seek to identify future events that could be hosted in Victoria, and the requirements for doing so. $20,000

* Higher grant amounts may be available and will be considered on a case by case basis by Sport and Recreation Victoria.

Get Active Victoria Kids Vouchers

The Get Active Kids Voucher Program helps eligible families get their kids involved in organised sport and recreation activities by reimbursing the cost of membership and registration fees, uniforms and equipment. Eligible children may be able to receive up to $200 each per round.

Sporting Schools

Sporting Schools offers grant opportunities for primary schools, and targeted grant opportunities for secondary schools in relation to year 7 and 8 students. Grants support the delivery of sport-based programs to help students build the confidence and capability to be active for life. Sporting Schools has partnered with more than 35 national sporting organisations (NSOs) and national sporting organisations for people with disability (NSODs) to facilitate delivery of Sporting Schools programs.

Sports Excellence Scholarship Fund

The Sports Excellence Scholarship Fund (SESF) empowers talented young athletes facing financial hardship by providing $1000 scholarships to athletes aged 10-18 years old, selected to represent their state, territory, or country. The scholarships alleviate costs associated with travel and participation. SESF scholarships are only for emerging athletes whose families are experiencing financial hardship. Eligible athletes will be competing in a National Championship for their state or country in 2024.

Purpose:

The purpose is to deliver a scholarship program that provides:

  • Financial scholarships of $1,000 each to support school aged athletes representing their State or Country at sporting championships.
  • Ongoing mentoring opportunities from former scholarship holders and SESF ambassadors.

The Australian Sports Commission (ASC) is the Australian Government agency responsible for supporting and investing in sport at all levels. The play a central role to increase involvement in sport and enable continued international sporting success through leadership and development of the sports sector, targeted financial support and the operation of the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS).

Australian Sports Foundation

The Australian Sports Foundation funds programs designed to increase healthy activity levels and grow participation in sport. Grants are distributed to support projects that improve access to sport for a range of people and communities. Their focus is on helping kids get active, breaking down the barriers of entry for women and girls, and on bringing more diversity to sport.

Change Our Game Grants Program

The Change Our Game initiative provides a range of grants and programs to support women and girls at all levels in sport and recreation in Victoria. The Change Our Game initiative includes three grant programs:

  • Change Our Game Professional Development Scholarships Program – This program supports women to access professional development opportunities to develop and strengthen specialist skills necessary to their roles in the sport and active recreation sector, placing them in the best position to obtain and thrive in leadership roles.
  • Change Our Game Women in Sports Media Program – This program is designed to support women interested in advancing their careers in sports media.
  • Change Our Game Research Grants Program – This program supports Victorian university researchers to undertake research relating to women and girls in sport and active recreation.

Sport Access Foundation

Sport Access Foundation (SAF) provides annual grants for children and young people with a disability. These grants can be used for any project that helps to build participation in sport and to ensure that no-one gets left on the sidelines. The SAF grants include four funding opportunities:

  • Pathway to Paralympic Grant – The Pathway to Paralympic grant is for aspiring Paralympians. This grant helps support two potential Paralympians with Paralympic-level performance and assist in the additional costs incurred.
  • BlueScope Sporting Club Grant – BlueScope Sporting Club grant is awarded to four registered sporting clubs affiliated with a National Sporting Organisation (as recognised by Sport Australia). The grant is for specific programs to include children with a disability and/or enable children with a disability to be members of their clubs.
  • Waratah Education Foundation No Barriers Grant – The No Barriers grant helps young Australians aged 7-12 with a disability overcome initial start-up costs to participate in sport. The funds are to be used towards new and upgraded equipment, club and competition fees, cost of travel and accommodation.
  • Waratah Education Foundation Kick Start Grant – The Kick Start grant helps young Australians with a disability access financial support to re-join their supporting club and/or sporting competitions. The funds can help pay club registration fees, carer costs, extra coaching, team uniforms or travel to participate in the sport.

The Rugby Club Foundation Grants

Grants are provided to “Share the Spirit of the Game” by supporting grassroots Rugby endeavours that grow the game across Australia. This year’s grants will focus on the following categories with a specific budget allocated to each:

  • Innovative/Pilot Programs to Share the Spirit of the Game
  • Coach Education
  • Referee Development
  • Junior Player Recruitment & Development
  • Junior Academies
  • Safety

Regional Community Sports Infrastructure Fund

The Regional Community Sports Infrastructure Fund is a competitive Victorian Government investment program, open to Victorian rural and regional Local Government Authorities and Alpine Resorts Victoria. The Fund aims to deliver new and upgraded community sports infrastructure across 5 streams:

  • Indoor Stadiums and Aquatic Facilities
  • Community Facilities
  • Women and Girls Facilities
  • Planning
  • All Abilities Infrastructure.

Applicants to any infrastructure stream may also apply for a grant of up to $50,000 for All Abilities Participation initiative funding to conduct participation programs for people with disability at the funded facility.

The Fund is underpinned by the Department of Jobs, Skills, Industry and Regions’ priorities to create more opportunities for people through skills and jobs, help businesses and industries to thrive, and build vibrant communities and regions.

Regional All Abilities Participation Grants

Regional All Abilities Participation Grants support grassroots sport and active recreation clubs and community-based not-for-profit organisations, to enable ongoing, sustainable, and meaningful participation for people with disability in regional Victoria.

The Grants assist organisations to increase participation opportunities and address barriers to participation for people with disability in regional Victoria.

Grants will support organisations to:

  • Purchase modified equipment, assistive technology, adaptive clothing and environmental aids
  • Recruit, mentor, employ and retain a person with disability to a paid or voluntary position
  • Employ a specialised workforce to support people with disability
  • Reduce travel costs for active participants with disability
  • Broaden the range of on-going, flexible and place-based sport or active recreation programs; and
  • Increase awareness, understanding, acceptance, community pride and connection.

Grant amount:

Up to $25,000 per category

Telstra Football Country Grants

The Telstra Footy Country Grants is designed to financially assist initiatives that can support Community Clubs affiliated to the AFL to strengthen the base and secure the future in three key strategic areas:

– Grow and assist volunteer capacity.

– Grow and diversify participation.

– Improve club environments and experiences.

Eligible clubs can apply for grants up to $20,000 – helping strengthen, sustain and grow local footy.

– Round 2: Monday 3rd February to 11:59pm (AEST) Thursday 3rd April 2025
