Sporting Club Grants Program
The Sporting Club Grants Program provides funding for community sport and active recreation organisations across Victoria. Access to this funding helps grassroots clubs and organisations address barriers in participation, develop safe and sustainable practices and build social and active local communities.
 

Funding Categories:

  • Category 1: On-field Uniforms or Equipment – Up to $1,000 to purchase on-field playing uniforms, participation equipment for competitors and active participants, safety, injury prevention and first-aid equipment.
  • Category 2: Volunteers and Officials – Up to $5,000 for projects that improve the skills and knowledge of volunteers, coaches and/or officials and projects that improve volunteer-retention.
  • Category 3: Access and Events – Up to $2,500 to host a single-session event for children and young people or adults OR up to $5,000 to deliver a series of sport session for adult participants.
  • Category 4: Travel – Up to $750 to help with travel costs for athletes selected for representative competition, selection trials or training camps.
  • Category 5 – Up to $1,500 to strengthen governance practices and ensure long-term sustainability.

Program dates:

Round 2 

  • Applications open: Wednesday 25 February 2026
  • Applications close: 4 pm Tuesday 7 April 2026
  • Notification of outcomes: June 2026

PILA Goalpost Subsidy Program

The annual PILA Goalpost Subsidy Program™ provides kick-start financial assistance for grassroots clubs to purchase safe, high-quality, regulation-compliant goalposts. This national program is open to clubs in all states and territories.

The Goalpost Subsidy Program® is available to all sports clubs located within Australia.

Telstra Football Country Grants

The Telstra Footy Country Grants is designed to financially assist initiatives that can support Community Clubs affiliated to the AFL to strengthen the base and secure the future in three key strategic areas:

– Grow and assist volunteer capacity.

– Grow and diversify participation.

– Improve club environments and experiences.

Eligible clubs can apply for grants up to $20,000 – helping strengthen, sustain and grow local footy.

Application opening and closing dates:

  • Round 1: Monday 1st December 2025 to 11:59pm (AEDT) Sunday 1st February 2026
  • Round 2: Monday 2nd February to 11:59pm (AEST) Thursday 2nd April 2026
  • Round 3: Friday 3rd April to 11:59pm (AEST) Sunday 24th May 2026
  • Round 4: Monday 25th May to 5pm (AEST) Thursday 23rd July 2026

The Woolworths Netball Grants Program is a significant initiative aimed at supporting grassroots netball clubs and associations across Australia.

Grassroots Cricket Fund

The Grassroots Cricket Fund (GCF) is a partnership of the Australian Cricketers’ Association and Cricket Australia, working to together to help drive this vital program and grow grassroots cricket. 

The GCF ensures cricket clubs and indoor cricket centres throughout Australia get the investment to support those who help drive grassroots cricket and bring communities together. 

Eligible activities/initiatives that will be funded fall under two broad categories: 

  • Initiatives that create more opportunities to play 
  • Initiatives that encourage exceptional experiences for members, club and community including building operational capacity & capability, volunteer development, improving inclusion & diversity, and creating safe, inclusive & quality experiences at clubs 

Grant Amount: 

Up to $3,500 for cricket clubs and centres to facilitate sustainable impact and foster participation growth in the junior space. 

Important dates: 

Open: Monday, 26th August 2024 

Close: Sunday, 22nd September 2024

Australian Cricket Infrastructure Fund

The Australian Cricket Infrastructure Fund (ACIF) provides funding for community cricket facility projects, with a focus on growing participation, promoting accessibility and inclusivity and delivering upon Australian Cricket’s strategic priorities.

The ACIF is open to all clubs, associations, schools, councils and cricket facility managers, acknowledging the important role that these partners play in providing facilities for community cricket across Australia.

The objectives of the ACIF are to:

  1. Improve the provision and quality of cricket infrastructure across all levels of community cricket in line with Australian Cricket’s strategic priorities
  2. Create inclusive and accessible environments for cricket participants and the broader community
  3. Collaborate with all levels of government and funding partners to invest in strategic cricket infrastructure priorities.

The ACIF has two grant categories relating to the amount of the funding request: 

  1. Australian Cricket Infrastructure Fund – Minor:  $0 – $15,000
  2. Australian Cricket Infrastructure Fund – Major:  $15,001 – $40,000

*Applications for more than $40,000 for multi-faceted/regionally significant projects will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Ford Aussie Hoops

This initiative is designed to support Ford Aussie Hoops centres across Australia by providing funding to enhance participation, engagement, and inclusion in grassroots basketball.

With two streams of funding available, centres have the opportunity to apply for:

  • Transition to Play Grants – Supporting associations that are effectively transitioning Ford Aussie Hoops participants into the next stage of their basketball development pathway. ($10,000 available per round, with 10 grants of $1,000 each).
  •  Initiative Grants – Encouraging innovative programs that promote engagement, inclusion, and skill development in existing centres ($10,000 available per round, with 10 grants of $1,000 each).

Coles Little Athletics Community Fund

Little Athletics Australia (LAA) will distribute funds from the Coles Little Athletics Community Fund to LAA Centres whose applications are approved by the Coles Little Athletics Community Fund Panel, to help improve the Little Athletics experience for volunteers, participants and families by providing money to support the purchase of sports, safety and volunteering equipment.

Sport Excellence Scholarship Fund

The SESF is a registered charity that supports young athletes aged 10 to 18 years old, whose financial circumstances would preclude them from otherwise participating at representative level for their state or Australia.  

Each recipient is awarded $1,000 per scholarship. 

Successful scholarship recipients will be required to submit photos, videos and a testimonial documenting their story at their National or International Championship. 

To be eligible for an SESF Scholarship, applicants must meet all of the following criteria to apply: 

  • Be between 10 and 18 years old, 
  • Be selected to represent their state or territory, or Australia, 
  • You must be officially selected and named in the state/territory or national team before you apply. 
  • Be competing in a National or International Championship for an Australian Sports Commission recognised sport, 
  • Be enrolled in an Australian school. This includes Government and non-Government Schools, 
  • Be an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident (within the meaning of the Australian Citizenship Act 2007), 
  • Be experiencing financial hardship. 

SESF scholarships are open during the whole school year. However, we only award scholarships prior to attendance of the sporting event.  

We must receive your principal endorsement one week before your expected departure. Therefore, we recommend you apply at least three weeks prior, to give your school adequate time to fill out their part of your application.  

Please note: 

You are not eligible if you are representing your school or sports club. 

SESF only awards scholarships prior to attendance of the sporting event.

Get Active Victoria Kids Vouchers

Victorian families with a Health Care Card or Pensioner Concession Card can apply for up to $200 to support their child’s sport and active recreation activities in April.

The Victorian State government provides a range of grants and funding opportunities to increase participation opportunities and facility development.

Emergency Sporting Equipment Grant Program

This program provides assistance to grassroots sport and active recreation clubs and organisations to replace or repair essential sporting and first aid equipment that has been lost or destroyed as a consequence of fire, flood, significant storms, theft or criminal damage. Significant Sporting Events Program

The Significant Sporting Events Program is a Victorian Government funding program that assists event organisers to enhance the delivery of national or international level sporting events in Victoria. Click here for more info. 

 

Aboriginal Sport Participation Grant Program

The Aboriginal Sport Participation Grant Program provides grants to assist Aboriginal Victorians to participate in Aboriginal sporting carnivals, buy sports uniforms and equipment, as well as funding for travel and accommodation expenses for athletes to compete in state and national competitions. Country Football and Netball Program

The Country Football and Netball Program is delivered in partnership with the AFL, AFL Victoria and Netball Victoria. It provides funding to Local Government Authorities to help regional football and netball clubs, associations and umpiring organisations upgrade and develop facilities in rural, regional and outer metropolitan locations. Regional All Abilities Participation Grants

Regional All Abilities Participation Grants support grassroots sport and active recreation clubs and community-based not-for-profit organisations, to enable ongoing, sustainable, and meaningful participation for people with disability in regional Victoria. Click here for more info. 

 

Regional Community Sports Infrastructure Fund

Australian Sports Commission (ASC)

The Australian Sports Commission (ASC) is the Australian Government agency responsible for supporting and investing in sport at all levels. The play a central role to increase involvement in sport and enable continued international sporting success through leadership and development of the sports sector, targeted financial support and the operation of the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS).

Australian Sports Foundation (ASF)

The Australian Sports Foundation funds programs designed to increase healthy activity levels and grow participation in sport. Grants are distributed to support projects that improve access to sport for a range of people and communities. Their focus is on helping kids get active, breaking down the barriers of entry for women and girls, and on bringing more diversity to sport.

Sport Access Foundation (SAF)

Sport Access Foundation (SAF) provides annual grants for children and young people with a disability. These grants can be used for any project that helps to build participation in sport and to ensure that no-one gets left on the sidelines. The SAF grants include four funding opportunities:

  • Pathway to Paralympic Grant – The Pathway to Paralympic grant is for aspiring Paralympians. This grant helps support two potential Paralympians with Paralympic-level performance and assist in the additional costs incurred.
  • BlueScope Sporting Club Grant – BlueScope Sporting Club grant is awarded to four registered sporting clubs affiliated with a National Sporting Organisation (as recognised by Sport Australia). The grant is for specific programs to include children with a disability and/or enable children with a disability to be members of their clubs.
  • Waratah Education Foundation No Barriers Grant – The No Barriers grant helps young Australians aged 7-12 with a disability overcome initial start-up costs to participate in sport. The funds are to be used towards new and upgraded equipment, club and competition fees, cost of travel and accommodation.
  • Waratah Education Foundation Kick Start Grant – The Kick Start grant helps young Australians with a disability access financial support to re-join their supporting club and/or sporting competitions. The funds can help pay club registration fees, carer costs, extra coaching, team uniforms or travel to participate in the sport.
