Sport North East and Active Schools partnered to host an All Abilities Basketball Competition in Wangaratta in Nov 2024. Over 80 students from Special Development Schools and other schools across the Northeast region came together for a fun day of basketball, teamwork, and activity. The All Abilities Basketball Day came from the specialist schools’ request to have another fun and social day of sport, after the success of our All Abilities Soccer Gala Day in May 2024. The day was all about providing an opportunity for students with a disability to come together and enjoy sport in a social environment and also enabling an ongoing participation opportunity for those who wish to do so, through connections with the local club.

The feedback has been great with the schools loving the social and flexible format. The impact of our All Abilities Gala Days is quite pleasing to see, with the participating schools wanting these gala days to be held again in 2025.
